Help grow the future of local news and information.

We have access to more information than ever before, but tech giants like Meta and Google are draining the resources of the local news outlets that help you learn about your community, connect with others, and hold powerful people accountable.

At The Steinman Institute we want to build new ways of sharing information together, so we can better know our neighbors, celebrate what’s working in our community, and tackle what isn’t.

Let’s build together:

The Steinman Institute for Civic Engagement is dedicated to growing support for local news and information to build connected and engaged communities.

We believe that trusted news and information is a public good as vital as clean water and fresh air, and our democracy depends on it.

The Steinman Institute is focusing its efforts in Lancaster County, as well as the surrounding counties.

Lancaster will be a laboratory for how robust local media plus education and engagement can result in a sustainable news models and improved civic engagement. It will be recording research, innovations and results to inform expansion within Central Pennsylvania and beyond.
