What can help local news become more responsive, relevant, and engaging for your daily life?
Exploring those questions and more was the central aim of our first virtual listening session, another part of our ecosystem mapping efforts.
While previous engagements have largely been with targeted groups, populations, or individuals, this session was open to the public and anyone willing to put up with a little bit of gimmicky meeting technology.
Our original plan was to use an interactive meeting platform that would gamify the experience, giving folks the ability to move freely around a digital space, join in different conversations, and personalize a little avatar. We hoped it would be a fun and new way to hold some of our planned gatherings.
Unfortunately due to technical issues during the gathering we went from what we hoped would be our Windows 95 moment turned into a Windows 98 moment.
Alas. Technology. “Moving right along…”
Despite the last minute pivot to Microsoft (ha!) Teams, we were thrilled to have an engaging conversation with 20 community members who engaged in a robust conversation about what they wanted to see changed about local news and information.
